Feherty 2nd season premieres Monday

From NBC Sports / Golf Channel -

GOLF CHANNEL HIT SERIES ‘FEHERTY’ PREMIERES SECOND SEASON MONDAY, FEB. 27

Sergio Garcia, Bill Russell and Butch Harmon to Star in First Three Episodes

18-Episode Season to Feature Expanded One-Hour Shows
‘Feherty’ Teams With New Season of ‘The Haney Project’ for All-New Monday Nights on Golf Channel

ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 23, 2012) – The early season lineup of guests for the second season of Golf Channel's hit primetime series, Feherty, premiering Monday, Feb. 27, includes enigmatic golfer Sergio Garcia in episode one, followed by Basketball Hall-of-Famer Bill Russell (March 5) and renowned swing coach Butch Harmon (March 12). The new, hour-long Feherty will shift to the 10 p.m. ET Monday timeslot where it will follow a new season of The Haney Project to form a potent primetime Monday lineup.
David Feherty, called “one of the funniest men in the game” by Yahoo! Sports, returns as host of his eponymous series filled with his unmistakable wit, irrepressible personality and blunt humor. Feherty catches up with Ryder Cup veteran Sergio Garcia in his home town of Barriol, Spain on Monday’s premiere episode, where they perform their own version of bull fighting in Castello, Spain and turn in their golf clubs for tennis rackets in a one-on-one showdown on the clay. Garcia also discusses with Feherty his past relationship with Greg Norman's daughter and what he has learned about his past anger and inappropriate behavior on the course.

On March 5, Feherty will travel to Seattle, Wash., for a candid conversation and a rare media appearance with Basketball Hall-of-Famer Bill Russell. The two will play golf together at a public course in Seattle, where Russell plays five days a week and – coincidentally – is the same course where Feherty played his last round as a professional. During the episode, Russell will discuss: growing up in the 1930’s and '40’s during a very challenging time in American history and how he coped with racism; witnessing Martin Luther King’s march on Washington in 1963; his relationship with legendary Boston Celtics’ coach Red Auerbach; receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Obama in 2010; and how he is mentoring kids and developing youth through the Mentoring Grant Program.

On March 12, Feherty catches up with renowned instructor Butch Harmon in Las Vegas. Harmon puts former pro, Feherty, through the ringers on the range with a one-on-one lesson; discusses his career and the people he has worked with; his experience in Vietnam and the work he has done with Harmon’s Heroes Foundation and Feherty’s Troops First foundation.

Feherty, which originally debuted in June, 2011 as Golf Channel’s most-watched original series in the network’s 17-year history, has been called “a cross between Oprah Winfrey and Johnny Carson” by The New York Times, “must-see TV” by the Orange County Register, and “a show that has all the ingredients to be a breakout hit” by The Augusta Chronicle.

No topic is off limits in this “unfiltered” series which shares revealing interviews with well-known personalities from all walks of life, along with unique stories and anecdotes from the brilliant yet zany mind of David Feherty. Shot in settings both intimate and personal to the guests, Feherty displays an uncanny interview style that engages his subjects and brings out answers both honest and revealing. During the first season, Feherty went one-on-one with the likes of Greg Norman, Tony Romo, Tom Watson, Charles Barkley and Don Cheadle.

Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden has mentored the likes of Andy Dalton, Cam Newton and Tim Tebow the past two years through his in-depth, one-on-one coaching sessions called Gruden’s QB Camp.

The SportsCenter specials have provided ESPN with groundbreaking and innovative content that gives fans a first-hand look inside the film room.

Gruden’s QB Camp is returning for a third season this spring.

Ten of the top quarterbacks in the 2012 NFL Draft class are scheduled to participate, including projected No. 1 overall pick Andrew Luck of Stanford and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III of Baylor. Others include: Kirk Cousins (Michigan State), Nick Foles (Arizona), Case Keenum (Houston), Kellen Moore (Boise State), Brock Osweiler (Arizona State), Ryan Tannehill (Texas A&M), Brandon Weeden (Oklahoma State), and Russell Wilson (Wisconsin).

Each quarterback will visit the Super Bowl-winning coach in Tampa for a film session at Gruden’s office – affectionately dubbed the Fired Football Coaches Association (FFCA) – followed by an on-field workout at the University of South Florida.

Gruden will prep a custom lesson for each prospect that highlights strengths and identifies areas of improvement for the QB to be successful at the NFL level.

On a key topic he will focus on with this year’s QB Camp prospects…
Gruden: “I think this year we’re going to have to address the new CBA. There’s a time restraint, in terms of the new CBA, where these players are going to have learn how to coach themselves – how to study themselves.  You’re not allowed to spend as much time in the facility in the offseason or during the season maybe that you used to. So, you have to learn to coach yourself and be a leader amongst your teammates when you have some private time to do some things away from the building.”

MLB Network To Count Down The Top 100 Players Right Now! Starting Tuesday, February 28

Secaucus, N.J., February 23, 2012 MLB Network today announced its 2012 Spring Training game schedule, featuring a groundbreaking presentation of live in-game audio. For the first time in an MLB game telecast, live audio content will air on a brief delay throughout the Spring Training game telecast of the Cleveland Indians at Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, March 7 at 3:00 p.m. ET. In cooperation with the Major League Baseball Players Association, up to as many as six players on each team will wear live microphones during the game. Coaching staff will also wear live microphones throughout the game and live microphones will be positioned at each base, down the first- and third-base lines and along the outfield wall, producing in-game audio content on a scale that has not previously been done. Matt Vasgersian will provide the game call, which will be available nationally on MLB Network, including in both the Indians’ and Diamondbacks’ home television territories.
“One of the missions of MLB Network is to promote the game of baseball and act as a platform to advance the presentation of the game,” said MLB Network President and CEO Tony Petitti. “The goal of this production is to bring fans closer to the game and experience it as a player would on the field. Not only are we trying to capture the player reactions and interactions, we want to present the natural sounds of the game, including the crack of the bat, the pop of a glove and the slide into a base like viewers have never heard before.”
The game telecast on March 7 will build on test productions of two enhanced audio game telecasts MLB Network produced but did not air during Spring Training in 2011. At that time, several players wore live microphones during the Milwaukee Brewers vs. Cleveland Indians and Oakland Athletics vs. Cleveland Indians games. Excerpts from those game telecasts are available here.
MLB Network’s 2012 Spring Training game schedule includes 150 games featuring every MLB club in at least six matchups. The game schedule begins on Saturday, March 3 with the 2011 A.L. East Champion New York Yankees against the 2011 N.L. East Champion Philadelphia Phillies live from Bright House Field in Clearwater, Florida at 1:00 p.m. ET. The 2011 World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals, the new-look Miami Marlins, the 2011 A.L. Wild Card Champion Tampa Bay Rays and the 2011 N.L. West Champion Arizona Diamondbacks will all be featured in live games during the first week of March. MLB Network’s complete Spring Training game schedule is available here. All games, except the enhanced audio game on March 7, will be a carriage of local telecasts, including local announcers, and blacked out in each club’s home market unless otherwise noted.
Leading up to the live games, MLB Network will reveal its ranking of the best players in Major League Baseball in its three-day series Top 100 Players Right Now!, beginning on Tuesday, February 28 at 9:00 p.m. ET. MLB Network’s Greg Amsinger, Al Leiter and Harold Reynolds will count down the top MLB players overall, taking into account players in their prime who are coming back from injuries, younger players expected to break out in 2012, and veteran players with proven track records. The countdown to the number one player will continue in new episodes on February 29 and March 1 at 9:00 p.m. ET. From Albert Pujols to Roy Halladay to Prince Fielder, the ranking includes five World Series MVPs, nine Cy Young Award winners, four A.L. and six N.L. MVP Award winners, 12 Rookie of the Year winners, 29 Gold Glove Award winners, 33 pitchers, 61 2011 All-Stars and 60 players under 30-years old.
As announced last week, MLB Network’s Spring Training series 30 Clubs in 30 Days and its signature studio show MLB Tonight return on Monday, March 5 starting at 5:00 p.m. ET. The 2012 schedule for 30 Clubs in 30 Days is available here.

From ESPN -

Baseball Tonight Goodyear Express Tour Begins Today
Baseball Tonight to Visit Spring Training Sites in Arizona & Florida

Baseball Tonight made its first stop as part of the Baseball Tonight Goodyear Express Tour today, Feb. 21, in Jupiter, Fla., for a visit with the defending World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals.  Baseball Tonight’s tour of Spring Training destinations will include visits to team camps in both Arizona and Florida over a four-week span.

Baseball Tonight’s Tim Kurkjian will be along for each Spring Training stop, joined at times by analysts John Kruk, Terry Francona, Aaron Boone and Rick Sutcliffe.  During each visit, the analysts will interview players and provide in-depth perspective on team preparation and off-season storylines heading into the 2012 MLB season.

“Last year was the most fun I’ve had in over 30 years covering Spring Training, mainly because of having John Kruk as part of the bus tour with me,” said Kurkjian. “The players really enjoyed it when the bus showed up to camp and it was a natural conversation starter.  I fully expect the same amount of enjoyment this year only it won’t just be John, but Terry, Aaron and Rick along for the ride too.”

Content from the Baseball Tonight bus tour will be integrated into weekday Baseball Tonight shows (regularly at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN), along with daily SportsCenter segments and ESPN.com (including local sites in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and New York).
