Saturday update - True Oldies out in Providence, URI climbing the RPI, Dice-K wins at WBC

Amazingly, it's almost 60 degrees here in Southern New England just five days after a snowstorm that dumped almost a foot of snow on us! Yes people, that's why we love and hate New England! Enjoy it while it lasts.

Speaking of enjoying it while it lasts, Scott Shannon of the True Oldies Channel reportedly announced on air Friday that the format will be leaving AM 790 WPRV soon. If so, just a year after dumping Sportsradio the Score, we will have another format switch on 790 in Providence. It doesn't take a genius to figure out what's next. I'll leave it at that...for now.

One last thing on 790, the ProJo's Bill Reynolds, like many Rhode Islanders, is missing the Score.

My alma mater, URI closes out its regular season today at 2pm against UMass. With a win, the Rams close out 23-8. It's Daily RPI is up to 46 now, which is encouraging. Good news also comes in the fact that the Rams are getting more and more love nationally, as Fox Sports.com's Frank Burlison has them in the tourney as a #12 seed today.

As for the Providence College Friars, they're at 68 today in the RPI Rankings.

Dice-K gets a win at the World Baseball Classic as Japan routs Korea, 14-2 (Boston Globe).

Don't forget the Rock, errrr, Dwayne Johnson hosts Saturday Night Live tonight on NBC at 11:30pm.

Also don't forget to set your clocks one hour forward this weekend as we spring ahead!
