Another beautiful day here in Little Rhody as we'll hit 60 degrees again today before a little storm comes in tonight with a bit of frozen precip. But, nonetheless, the news keeps marching on today. We'll give you a bit plus again ask that you vote on the NewsBabes Tournament on the right hand side of the site. We've got some upsets brewing as the first round continues until Friday.
* - Alex Rodriguez will indeed have surgery on that injured hip. Sources say he's out 6-8 weeks. (NY Post)
* - Saturday was not kind to the Rhody Rams as they lose on a last second length of the floor drive and layup by Chris Lowe of UMass 72-71 in Kingston. The Rams end the season at 22-9 and the loss pretty much means that they'll have to at least make the A-10 finals in order to have any chance of making the NCAA Tournament. In today's Daily RPI, the Rams are at 63 while the PC Friars drop to 71.
Now it's onto Conference Tournament play for URI and PC. PC will have a first round bye as the 8th seed. They'll play the winner of Cincy/DePaul at 12pm Wednesday in New York. Here's the full Big East Bracket. Rhody will also have a first round bye as the 2nd seed. They'll face the winner of Duquesne/UMass Thursday at 7pm in Atlantic City. Here's the A-10 Bracket.
* - Terrell Owens is off to Buffalo to play for the Bills on a one-year, $6.5 million deal (Fox Sports.com). Why? The easy answer has to be that agent Drew Rosenhaus had no other real offers and got what he could on a one-year deal before the uncapped year in 2010. After all, TO will make about $700,000 more than he would've with the Cowboys. Yet, let's look at the on-the-field stuff. If you factor that in, why would you go to the Bills?
1. Weather - too cold, too windy, too snowy for TO
2. QB - So, Jeff Garcia, Donovan McNabb and Tony Romo weren't good enough but Trent Edwards is?
3. Divisional opponents - Patriots, Jets and Dolphins (Belichick, Ryan and Parcells). Enough said there
4. Fans - The people in Buffalo are true blue collar. They're not going to put up with DTO - that's Diva TO to you and me
