CBS SPORTS’ RATINGS FOR FIRST AND SECOND ROUND COVERAGE OF 2009 NCAA MEN’S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP UP 6%
CBS Sports’ exclusive coverage of the first and second rounds of the 2009 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship has earned an average overnight household rating/share of 5.4/12, up +6% from a 5.1/12 in 2008 in the metered markets.
On Sunday, March 22 the overall average metered markets rating/share was a 6.4/14, up +10% from a 5.8/14 last year.
National coverage of Syracuse defeating Arizona State in the first broadcast window (12:00 NOON–2:15 PM, ET) earned a 4.2/11, up +17% from a 3.6/10 for Villanova-Siena last year.
The second broadcast window of the day (2:15-5:00 PM, ET) delivered a 6.5/15, up +3% from a 6.3/16 last year, which saw Xavier, Kansas, Arizona and Pittsburgh win.
The final broadcast window of the day, highlighted by Louisville, Michigan State and Missouri advancing (5:00-7:45 PM, ET), earned an 8.1/16, up +14% from a 7.1/16 in 2008. The 8.1/16 was the best rating in the broadcast window since an 8.2/15 in 2006.
