Providence gets DePaul in Round 2 of Big East Tournament

This just in from the Big East Tournament in NY City - DePaul shocks Cincinnati 67-57 in the opening round game this afternoon. That means that DePaul now faces Providence Wednesday at 12pm in round 2 on ESPN.

DePaul came into the game 0-18 in the conference (8-23 overall)! How Cincy (18-13 before the loss), who needed a win today and to beat PC Wednesday to put them at least back into the conversation for the NCAA Tournament, just threw up a stinker and will now await the NIT fate.

You gotta think that the powers that be in the Big East Conference, including outgoing commish Mike Tranghese, are smiling as this is the reason to have all 16 teams play in the postseason conference tournament. Yes, I'm being sarchastic since it was the coaches and presidents who wanted it while the Big East officials did not.
