A quick afternoon update for ya -
* - Providence College can't afford to lose at the Big East Tournament today against DePaul. You wouldn't know it by the lack of urgency their showing early, down 43-40 in the opening minutes of the 2nd half and now tied at 45 with 14 minutes to go.
* - Cleveland State upsetting Butler last night did not help the mid-majors on the Bubble.
* - Good to see LT sign with the Chargers. (ESPN.com)
* - I've watched a bit of the World Baseball Classic so far and I've liked what I've seen. Loved the Netherlands with the second upset win over the Dominican Republic last night in 11 innings to move on to round 2. It was also good to see Pedro Martinez pitching well again too.
* - Dwyane Wade takes on the M*A*S*H unit otherwise known as the Celtics tonight in Miami. No KG, Big Baby, Scall, Tony Allen or Rondo. Should be fun!
* - Can Jay Cutler just shut up and go away! He's got no leverage against the Broncos, just ask Chad Johnson and the Bengals. (SI.com)
* - No LOST tonight on ABC, so it looks like it's lots of college hoops and the American Idol results show at 9pm.
* - Could there be changes at Fox Sports for the NFL in 2009? Pro Football Talk.com's Mike Florio discusses.
